Barramundi Bush Bash - Novice Adventure
This popular novice race is a team event with 2 people participating together against other teams. Freshly named the Barramundi Bush Bash to celebrate the abundance of this magnificent sports fishing species!
Did you know?
* The name Barramundi is aboriginal for "large scaled river fish"
* Most Barramundi are born male, turning female around 3 - 4 years old
* Barramundi have been recorded at over 1.2m long and weighing over 40kg
* Gladstone Area Water Board (GAWB) has built a new multi-species fish hatchery at Lake Awoonga which will be capable of producing up to 1.5 million fingerlings a year including Barramundi, Mangrove Jack and Sea Mullet
* The GAWB hatchery is one of the largest breeders of Barramundi, with Lake Awoonga holding the largest stocks in Australia
Taipan Trail - Endurance Adventure
Not for the faint of heart! You must swim in this challenging race, no kayaks! The word Taipan means "boss" - which is exactly what you will be if you can finish this punishing race!

* There are 3 species of Taipan in Australia - Coastal, Inland and Central Ranges
* The Taipan is regarded as one of the most venomous snake in the world
*Some common prey for the different species include rats, mice, bandicoots and birds
* Due to the colour their colour variation, Taipans are best identified by counting ventral and sub caudral scales on the underbelly (but leave this to the experts as these snakes are feisty)
Goshawk Gauntlet - Competitive Adventure
An adventure where participants compete solo. Option to kayak or swim, although kayaks are on a first come, first paddle basis. Raising awareness of this elusive bird of prey, this race ventures through some of the natural habitat of the Red Goshawk.
